Large silver plate butler's tray. The vintage EGW & S International Silver flat waiter's tray measures 16 x 27 inches which includes the handles. It is in lovely condition with no loss of silver and only minor wear commensurate with age and use.
The tray has a lovely chased scroll design with a large center plain cartouche. The handles have a shell like pattern with what looks like small flowers or berries.
The EGW & S stands for E G Webster and Sons which was purchased by International Silver in 1928. The letters are in Old Script above the International Silver name. The company continued production under the trademark until 1961 when the trademark was changed to Webster Wilcox and then later sold in 1981 to Oneida. I think the tray is probably from the 50's.
It is a lovely tray and perfect for entertaining. It is large enough to hold a 5 piece silver service set.
The tray is heavy and probably silver over copper or brass.
