A wonderful Art Deco tokanabe ware wall pocket. Tokanabe ware was a mold pressed pottery made in Japan from the decade from 1920 to 1930. It was usually black with a stippled looked and a raised relief painted design. I cannot find a maker's mark on the vase.

I love birds and just love this vase! This beautiful little wall vase has a raised relief design of a bird, possibly a parrot. The bird has green, blue and an orange paint. The vase is in wonderful condition, with no chips or cracks. There is a little scratch on the back possibly where it was hung at one time.
