Absolutely beautiful silver covered butter dish. The antique butter dish was produced by James W. Tufts in Boston from the 1875 to the 1890's in Boston. James W. Tufts silverware was marked with his name James W Tufts and a T inside a 4 pointed star. Some pieces were triple plate and others quadruple plate. This piece is not marked which plate but does have the James W. Tufts mark with the diamond with a T inside.
The covered butter dish or cheese dome has a beautifully engraved design with a name monogrammed Farrow. It was probably a wedding gift at one time.
The piece does have a couple of small dings one in the back and small one in the front but it does not really show up because of all of the engraving. It is a lovely piece if you like antique silver.
* I have a pair of James W. Tufts candlesticks also in my shop. If you are interested in purchasing both of the items please email for a savings.
